Phoenix worms are the larvae of the black soldier fly, which is native to where I am  at fortunately.  The males and females live for eight days with the sole intention on breeding and making little soldier flies.  The bio pod utilizes "kitchen trash" such as potatoes, vegetable peels and such.  The good thing about breeding black soldier flies is that when you get a good colony started they give off a chemical that is repulsive to houseflies!!  If you want to check it out the website is http://blacksoldierflyblog.com/the_biopod// . It makes sense to me to utilize these insects and "produce" my own reptile food Smiley
