How do beardies bed down in the wild? Do they dig a burrow or find a cave or crack in some rocks?
I have some river rocks in my enclosure and was hoping that Kiki would crawl in between them to sleep. He..she..it hasn't done that but has gone to the side of the enclosure and crawled under a paper towel I have where the tile doesn't cover the bottom of the tank. The towel is only one inch wide there and doesn't cover he..her..it very well, so I got the idea to cut a quarter of a paper towel and put it in the corner. Kiki crawls under the towel and appears to love it. During the day I keep the paper towel handy and use it to clean up her poop. If only I could train Kiki to just go on the paper towel!
Anyway, does anyone else use a paper towel? What do you think about this? What do others use? Have you spent a bunch of money or make a cave and the dragon never uses it?
Thanks,
Mark

id recomend just getting a cardboard box and cut an opening big enough for her to get in is he/she full grown? if its still a baby make sure that the box inst big enough to scare but enough for her to be cozy and maybe find and old fleece blankie and cut a square out and put in there for her to go to sleep on. and i think it might be possible to train them to go over in a certain corner mine usually goes over in the far corner away from the heat lamp.

all of my dragons are different when it comes to where they want to sleep... magellan will sleep in his cave 98% of the time and the other 2% of the time he sleeps standing up against the vent on the upper level of his enclosure
lizzy will sleep in her "cave" which is a cricket box cut up with an opening for her to walk into 98% of the time and 1% under the newspaper in her tank or behind her basking log
galileo always sleeps on the tippy top of his basking log under his leaves and the only time he doesnt sleep there is if hes sick
machiavelli will sleep in his empty food bowl or on the flat part of his basking log in the corner
every dragon has their preference....why dont u put some paper towel in the cave and put your dragon inside it so they can associate the cave with sleep

Since my babies are still so new, I dont have a hide for them yet, however, we are going to build those into the xfire enclosures when we get started on them, sometime this month. I am guessing right after Kazzy and friend come down. Janie.

my bd Laurelei always sits next to her rock with her head pressed up against it because it stays warm there, and its a spot just big enough for her she has to climb over her basking rock, slide down it, and then turn around, but she always does it lol
