do you mean that if the cricket keeper is big, and they're exposed..that'll make them die? (sorry if I sound ignorant..I'm new to cricket keeping)
no reason to apologize...the forums are made for people with questions...if the cricket keeper is too small it will likely kill them and if there isnt enough egg crates and empty paper towel rolls...also if there isnt enough food, water (crystals) or if its too cold it will kill them

OK. I will try to adjust those things. Can you tell me what do the egg crates do? We have them in there...but I don't know what for? I also added a carrot today for moisture, and they have collared greens. I'll read up..as I know there is a ton of stuff on the forum already..you guys are all really patient re-posting things for all us newbies! thanks.

lol dont worry about it! we r always here to help out! the egg crates provide places for them to hide nd climb on so they dont crush eachother...i usually dont have to put too much work into keeping crickets i jus toss in some greens nd leave them be...i keep them at MY room temp which is about 80F nd have no problems...also getting them from a good source is also important

I've been buying 1000 crickets at a time and keep them at room temp: 60 at night and 68 in the day.  Maybe less because they are in an old glass aquarium tank on the floor.  I was told thier optimum temp is about 85, however if you keep them at that temp and provide food they will grow fast.  I don't want mine to grow because my dragon isn't full grown, so I don't want the cricks getting bigger than the space between the eyeballs.  I provide a minimum amount of food for them too.

I also keep a small cricket keeper which holds a day or two's supply of crickets.  These crickets get the royal treatment: heat (right next to the dragon's tank) and lots of food and water.

This has worked well so far.  I've been doing it for 4000 crickets now.

I buy my crickets by the thousand and keep them in one of my old glass tanks with a screen lid on top so my cats cant get in it. I usually just dump the box in and rip up some of the egg crates to small peices. I do this because i find it really easy to dust my crickets in a large cardboard tube in which i actually got 1000 crickets in and by having the small peice of egg crate it fits in and i just shake them off then put some dust in there and shake them about.

I just feed my crickets butternut squash. My BD is only a baby and would take him a year at the pace he is at to eat a squash so i just cut peices of that for the crickets and they go to town.

With regards to breeding them im not too sure never done it. However i did find this a long time ago but never really tried it...http://www.iosphere.net/~ajs/breeding.htm.

Hope that helps
