Okay, good to know. I knew about how the heat pads come with little "feet" to help vent, I was just unsure about how safe heating up rubber would be. But I'm pretty sure now it should be alright.

Crickets "thrive" in warmer temps (in the 80's) but they actually live longer in cooler temps (lowers 70's) I too live in an apartment, and I also keep my crickets in a large open top rubber bin that I keep in the compartment under my beardies tank (nice and dark) I personally no longer use a heat pad, the only thing in my bin is gut load cricket food, cricket gel with calcium, and cardboard eggshells. This is the best setup I have come across that really promotes maximum life.
