how do i know if my female has eggs in her? would i really feel the "marble" bumps in her stomach? because she got really fat but i dont feel the marble bumps. but the male was with her so now i dont know

YOU DON"T ALWAYS FEEL BUMPS !!! As a long time breeder, Trust me, Sometimes you have no idea and just have to watch their behavior.  And ask yourself some questions...

1.  Did she eat more than usual for a couple weeks, fatten up a lot, then just refuse to eat for a couple days ?
2.  Then, is she restless, not eating, and digging a lot, especially digging when the lights go out ??
3.  Was she left with a male about 3-4 weeks ago ?? (not always needed, as females can have unfertilized pregnancies)
4.  Should I just put her in a laying bin for a day to be sure and see what happens ?? ANSWER: YES !!! IT CAN'T HURT...

hi, i am new to breeding and would just like to know whats the approximate size of a bearded dragon egg?

My dragon's eggs have ranged from 1 1/4" -1 3/4" long. They will grow about a third larger during their incubation period. Mainly they get more plump, but they also get a bit longer.

They hatch about 4 - 4 1/2" long and cute as heck....

GOOD LUCK !!!

Sometimes their behavior wont change at all.  My female that just layed a clutch did it without any warning.  Was eating normal had only gained about 20 - 30 grams, had displayed no digging behaviors.  I checked on her one morning and she was fine then 4 hours later i came home for lunch and she had laid.  All kinds of fun there.  She had no signs of the eggs having dropped inside her up to that point either.

You're right, but you had the laybox in her tank.  Correct ? I'm sure if you didn't, she would show the signs that she needed a place to lay.  Also, 30 grams IS kind of a lot to gain in a few weeks.  That's roughly a 10% (more or less) bodyweight increase. And it would have gotten more had she held those eggs a bit longer.

As they progress and the eggs get bigger, they take up the room she needs to hold more food. This is why they stop eating.  This person I wrote to had no laybox at hand, so I was curious if his had showed those symptoms.

I'm sure your girl would show those signs if she did not already have a comfortable place to lay in. She would hold her eggs, until she stopped eating, and begin digging around the tank, looking for a place.  That's when I put mine in a separate lay box.

This wait is not unhealthy, as dragons have a good window of time from when they are first able to lay, and before they must lay the eggs.  Your girl felt the time come, and immediately just went in.  That's awesome and easier for you, but mine seem to like to lay in a different place from where they normally run around.  I put them in and they lay within a couple hours, sometimes a couple minutes.  I've never had any problems, but "There's more than one way to skin a cat."

Oh... sorry,   That expression sounds so much worse when you read it ...

actually she did have the lay box setup (dont make assumptions) she never made any signs of even paying attention to the lay box.  but she laid them in the lay box thankfully.  just saying some never show signs.

That's what I said, "you had the lay-box in the tank".  I could tell from your post, not from making assumptions. I agreed with you about them not being as obvious sometimes. I just asked this guy if his showed some signs because he never set-up a place to lay eggs. That's all... Sorry if I offended you...

Are you sure you are not supposed to change the lighting? Cause in my book it says you are supposed to.
