my basking temp is 105 F usually, i drop my thermometer in on the wall of the cage held by a string for 5 minutes then check the temperature.


and I shall check out pet mountain

It doesn't sound like you're getting a very accurate basking surface temp. You'll need a digital thermometer with a probe or a temp gun for accurate temps. If you use a digi/probe, you'll need to have the probe touching the basking surface directly under the heat light. The basking surface temp should read between 110* and 120*f.
