Lady seems to have made it through another (though short) brumation. She's 13 years old, wide awake and eating like she's starved! I was so happy to walk into the dragon room this morning and see my "Old Lady" up and moving around! Here's hoping she sees her 14th hatch-day this summer!

Excellent!  Congratulations!  Here's to several more years!  Dragons can live up to 16-17 years sometimes, looks like lady may be one of those extraordinarily long lived dragons Smiley

Well, different husbandry can lead to shorter or longer life spans.. Then there is the genetics of the animals themselves that play a part.

I can't say for me, if mine is going to prolong or shorten or even average out.. since all of mine are in the 3 year old range.. still in their primes so to speak..

be interesting to see i was wondering if maybe with the UK being colder in general for most of the year if that maybe shortened there life spans as compared to wild or hotter country or if maybe 5 years was an average and the 10 years was an over estimate

7 to 9 years seems to be the average in the US. Wild dragons typically only live 3 to 4 years. I'd say it's likely genetics and/or care that makes the difference. I feel fortunate to have Lady still with me at 13 years old. I got her when she was 4 and she had very poor care before she came to me. I didn't expect to have her for so long, but I'm very happy that I do!
