I have a bearded dragon that he is 1 year and 3 months old. Since the last three months, he is in the brumation period. He is not eating very much and as a result, he does not leave droppings very frequently. The substratum is now old (1 month) but not dirty because he has left droppings only one time since the last change of it. My question is : do i have to change the substratum every month as I used to or to wait until it will become dirty?

I prefer to avoid any particle substrates completely. If you're using sand, even with only one mess in it, your dragon is now living in bacteria that could make him sick. Textured tiles are much more sanitary, easier to clean, and safer for your dragon.
