Hey all. I am fairly new to the beardie world, so i've got a few questions. I was thinking of putting a very small potted cactus in my 40 gal beardie tank. So... the cactus would not be planted in the terrarium the substrate; but it would just sit on the tank sand in a pot with the Miracle-Gro soil.  I can't recall what type of cactus it is... would that matter? And also I was going to use this Miracle-Gro Cactus Potting Soil. Does anyone know if its ok to put a pot this seemingly fancy soil in the tank?

I hope thats clear enough. Thanks!

Hi there.

I personally wouldn't recommend doing that, with the miracle grow, since that type has fertilizer in it usually.
Also, putting a potted plant might be a door way to other problems, including, the animal trying to eat the cacti, or turning over the pot to dig in the soil.

It's up to you, but I personally wouldn't do that.
Hope this helps out.

It would also raise the humidity in the VIV (at least everytime you watered the Plant), which "can" lead to RI issues.

Na don't put live plants in a vivarium as it will slightly raise humidity and cacti can injure some lizards, but then again I've got a HUGE cactus in my room and when i let my two lizards out they some times like to run up it. BUT if you do make sure they DON'T eat it as the spikes will kill them.
