Your dragon will need a basking surface temp of 110* to 120*f. It needs to be measured directly on the basking surface under the light using a digital thermometer with a probe or a temp gun. No other types of thermometers give an accurate surface temp.

Your dragon needs 2 different temps. The best way to measure this is with a probe thermometer. Your dragon needs a basking temp, under this light you should have something that he or she can bask on such as rocks or a branch. Make sure to read the box your basking lamp comes in, it will have directions as to how close your dragon needs to get to the light. The temp here should be between 100-110F, for young beardies the closer to 110 you can get it the better.

You also need a cooler spot for your dragon to get into when he or she gets too hot, this temp should be between 75-85F.

Don't forget your dragon needs a basking light and a UVB light to prevent calcium deficiency and in the long run Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD)
