Don't need the heat pad .  Most that do the uvb on timers also do the heat bulb too.

If you could post a picture of that enclosure I'm sure we can help you get things on track for your new pets.
Hope this helps.

Hey first of congrats on your new hobby!

You don't need to have the basking light on a timer but it is WAY more convenient  Smiley  Both lights go off at the same time and come on at the same time and you don't have to worry about unplugging them.

Like another person said you don't have to worry about the heat pad, the only time you need that is if your tank drops below 60F at night or you can't get your basking spot hot enough.

Also keep a close eye on your beardies, they are very territorial creatures and as they get older they could start to fight.

Heat pads or UTH (under the tank heaters) should not be used with Beardy's as they cannot detect heat from underneath and would have no way to regulate their temps or know if they are getting burned. This is one reason that heat rocks are not recommended. If the temp drops below 65F at night you should use a CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter), which uses a light socket, doesn't emit light and allows the dragon to regulate their temp if need be.

Hope this helps.
