I currently have a ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 26W compact for my 40 breeder. I was looking into purchasing a new bulb but discovered that compacts are not exactly good because they can supposedly cause blindness and such. So I was looking to getting a tube bulb and wanted to know if I needed a 10.0 or a 5.0 and what wattage was good. I also read that the beardie needs to be within 6-8 inches of the light in order to absorb it. Is a 40 breeder to high for a tube light?

All tubes have the same wattage as far as I know. You'll want the reptiSUN 10 tube. A 40 breeder is fine for them - just raise the basking area or rig the uvb light to hang down inside the enclosure to get the dragon close enough.
