just a few simple questions i would like to clarify with the experts....

i have just got myself a 9 week old leopard gecko Smiley

1) should temps be around the 80's using undertank heat mat without any basking light just a red bulb at the cool end and are these temps measured as ambient temps not as accurate as you have to be for dragons ?
2) i have put a large pebble in the viv covered with pure calcium powder ?
3) feed only live foods i.e cricks, mealworm etc no veggies ?
4) how do you sex them as i will be getting more but im sure two males cant be kept together ?
5) how many can i keep in my viv  its 36 inch by 15 inch by 18 inch ?
6) are they easy to breed ?

i have just checked with a digital thermometer and are temps of 90f to high ,, i am getting these temps because i have a 60w red bulb as the heat mat under the viv doesnt seem to be getting the temps anywere near 80f ,, if 90f is to high then i might try a 40w red next time i pass my pet shop ..
oh ye is it true they cant see red and can they see through the glass viv ?

thanks

Red lights even black lights are fine to use with leopard geckos.

But they sure can see through glass... Mine watch me at night as I fall asleep.
Hope this helps.

My leo setup seems to be running 100of ambient temps ,, are these ok or to hot ?
It may be because i now have the setup on top of my beardies viv.

I have also put my leo viv on an 8hrs daylight cycle now and everything seems to be ok.
I was advised to do this as my leo only knew costant darkness , is this ok what i have done?
Also it is definitely the ambient temps you measure?
