Hi

I have a 4 ft vivarium which is 80-90F at one end and 100-110F at the other - is this ok for a bearded dragon.
I'm setting the vivarium up for the first time and just want to make sure the temps are right before buying my dragon.

Many thanks

Jason

Hello
Your temps sound pretty good, are you using a probe style thermometer placed in contact with the hottest part of the basking area to get your basking temperature?  Most dragons like it a bit hitter right at the basking spot around 115-120 at the very hottest spot.  Take your measurement after the lights have been running for at least 5 hours with either a probe (that has been sitting there the whole time) or an Infrared temp gun.
Also be sure to check out our caresheet which is stickies in the general section.  Good luck!

no i'm not useing a probejust thermometers. One at each end of the viverium. but  durring the afternoon the temp 115c on the warm side and 90 on the cool side. this is after the second day of running it. I want to make sure this is alright for the dragon  before buying it.

Thanks again

Without either a temp gun or a digital thermometer with a probe, there's no way to know if the temps you're getting are really accurate. Stick on and dial thermometers aren't designed for this type of enclosure, and can be as much as 20* off in either direction.
Using a temp gun or a digital thermometer with a probe, the basking surface directly under the heat light should be between 110* and 120* f. As long as that's in the correct range, the other temps in the enclosure tend to follow suit.
