hi ,, you might remember a short while back that my beardie wasn,t eating,, now she has really deteriated over the past 36 hours im very worried , ive checked temps there now at around 108.7F and shes now just very lathargic and keeping her eyes closed , just hangs limp and closed eyes when shes picked up , ive tried hydrating her giving her water off my fingers (tried everything i can think of) she is just not responding , i ams using an exo-terra digital thermometer the one with the little readout on the outside of viv with a probe on the end of a wire that i have rested against the side of her basking rock (is this giving me accurate basking temp ?) any help or suggestions would be appreciated at this point ,,
she has never really had a good start as the shop i got her from knows very little about dragons as has been proved to me from this forum , for example i was told i didnt need calcium supplements...

Hey..
Yes that thermometer is fine.
I would highly suggest a vet visit for your dragon.
I'm sorry I can't offer any more useful advice..

*warm hugs*

thanks,,  but ive checked around localy and cant find a vet that will see a dragon its frustrating ..

what is the best temp i should aim for on the digital therm as ive been told that my readings are way to high and i should be aiming for the high 80's to 90 F.
and that this therm is not accurate for basking temps..

thanks again

hey just an update ,,,

i think iv figured out what the problem was i have stripped the viv and inspected everything and i have found that the inadequate setup the fool in my local shop  has supplied me has a 60w max bulb fitting in it and it has been slowly starting to melt and breakdown ..(what an idiot and will be getting a large piece of my mind monday morning Angry  )..  the bulb i am using is a 75w reflector bulb , i think the fumes off the fitting ha been affecting her as i have now redone the viv and replaced the fitting with a 100w and she has started to pick up still not 100% but its a huge step in the right direction and i can now concentrate on getting her back and eating , i will keep you posted on her progress and its yet another little problem that may be of some use to others in the future with similar symptoms...
