Absolutely.  I'd say a minimum of 30 minutes.  Probably best to do 2 30 minute sessions.  Do you have your digital probe thermometer or an infrared temperature gun?  They can help in determining how hot it is getting both outside in the sun and in the enclosure.

Most say to not use any container that is transparent, frosted/milky or semi see thru might be ok, best to just use a white or gray plastic bin (too dark might get pretty hot depending on where you are).  Also keep in mind that plastic and glass (anything but pure crystal really) will filter out the beneficial UVB rays, so it needs to be direct sunlight.

This outside trip must be supervised, so enjoy an iced tea, corona, or just get some reading done, and keep an eye on your dragon.  You want to make sure they cannot escape or tip the container.  Also watch for predators (cats, dogs, foxes, and especially large birds!).  Additionally watch out for wild insects; while it may be very tempting to let your dragon participate in some pest control--God knows I love to watch our family of wild house geckos eat our bugs at night--these wild insects may be toxic to your dragon (fireflies aka lightning bugs are fatal), they may also be doused in pesticides or carry parasites.

If you have a lot of predators or wild insects around you can use a wire screen, but you'll need to increase the basking time by about 50%.

You can get the reptisun 10 tube at petmountain.com much cheaper than at a regular pet store. I usually pay right around $20 each for them. Click here for a direct link to the Reptisun 10. That is the only recommended florescent UVB light.

Probe thermometers are about $10-$20.  You can find them at Walmart or hardware stores.  Infrared temp guns run about $20-$50.
Here's a probe thermometer

And an inexpensive temp gun

I think I'm going to order one of these temp guns, the cheapest price is like 11$ + $5 shipping...
This is a nice temp gun and includes a laser sight
List of other sellers, check out the one for $11

Hope this helps!
