Anyone had a beardie like mine that still refuses to eat veg. She will be 4 this year which is an achievement on its own as she was very sick at one point. But thanks to my angel LadyKnite she is a bundle of health except she still hates veg. I have tried everything from worms in the bowl to putting her by her bowl to trying to hand feed her but its a no no. She wants meat!! Crickets and worms!! She gets plenty of calcium and vit supplements powder but of course there is no sub for the real thing. any advice? any ill health as a result of this?? she loves banana and grapes and watermelon but thats not something i give her everyday. butternut squash and rocket leaves is what we get here in The UK.

secondly she has become quite lazy when it comes to coming out of her hole and basking. if she wasnt eating well i would get worried but she could be under there from morning to when i come home from work. as soon as i throw bugs in she comes darting out. Anythig to worry bout? Here in The UK its been very sunny believe it or no so she gets lots of natural sunlight basking. I have an MVB inher viv that is workingjust fine. again anything to worry bout?

finally cos she doesnt eat much veg she poops about once a week. A huge amount. i soak her 4 or 5 times a week but its the weekend she saves it for. again is that ok?

thanks

This is a tough situation.  Your dragon seems to be doing well.  My 4 year old is somewhat the opposite he loves veggies and greens and only eats a few roaches a week.  The main issue with too much protein is liver issues, it may also effect the kidneys.  Does your dragon like any kinds of non-live protein such as Rep-cal pellets, boiled eggs, escargot, boiled ground turkey or chicken?  I personally would try some of those non-live proteins to find one your dragon really likes, then you can finely chop the veg into a purée anemic thoroughly with the protein.  We don't normally suggest lettuce of any type but you may try leafy dark romaine (not the hearts), green leaf lettuce, or red lettuce.  Also you can try endive.  You also might try checking if turnips or mustard are grown on any farms there.  While turnip and mustard greens are not typically sold in stores this doesn't mean they are not grown there.  Maybe try a farmers market and ask the vendors.  Best of luck.

Take to heart what Mach has said, it's good advice.

Also you can try the tough love approach to getting your beardie to eat veggies. Don't feed anything but veggies, your beardie might not eat for a few days to a couple of weeks but once hunger kicks in guess what, the veggies will disappear. It sounds cruel and I don't like doing it myself but sometimes it's a must.

My Baby girl, Lizzie, stopped eating for 5 months. The only thing she got was the few crickets I managed to get in her mouth every few days, and very small amounts of baby food veggies out of a syringe. Took her to 2 different vets, one was clueless, the other I really liked. He did all kinds of tests, xrays, there was nothing wrong with her. She was very fat when this started, could the hunger strike of been natures way to try and slim her down so
she could carry eggs? She had lost over 100 grams, then one day about 5 months ago, she ate a roach and has been eating them ever since, she has gained some of her weight back but she WILL NOT EAT ANYTHING else, NO veggies, NO fruits.  Angry I decided she thinks it is her JOB to make me crazy with worry, I know this doesn't help you but your not alone, these Dragons are strange little creatures
