I have just adopted 2 Bearded Dragons for my sons and I think it is the best gift I could get them. My question is we are trying to set up a nice home for them and I have been looking into Substrate for it. What would you guys recommend I think sand would be nice but what I have read so far it could cause complications for the little guys. Newspaper to me just wont do. I want to make it appealing to the eye but also safe and COMFORTABLE for the bearded ones. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Textured ceramic tiles are the best in my opinion.
You'll also need separate homes for them. They're solitary animals and do best when housed alone. Housing together leads to dominance/intimidation issues, breeding too young if they're opposite genders, fights that cause missing body parts and often death.

Thanks for the input and yes I plan on building a large home for each of these guys. It would be nice to keep them together but that is OK this way I can get my sons involved in designing and building the homes for their bearded ones. I never thought we would have lizards as part of the family but to tell you the truth I get as much enjoyment out of them as my boys. So we are going to Home Depot to pick out some textured tile today. Thanks again
