hey all, I have two baby bearded about a month and a half old, super cute but still very skiddish. It's my first time with reptiles and I've been dong tons of research to find out how to best care for them.  Some people say to give them a bath weekly, others say give them a water bowl and occasionally spritz/mist them and/or their food.  I have been misting them and their veggies and they have water bowls and I have actually seen them drink from them from time to time.  Should I be giving them baths too? They are still pretty skiddish and I am finding it hard to pick them up without them freaking out and running around and I imagine a bath would terrify them, but if it's necessary for their health i will do so anyhow.  What do you all do for hydration? Also, are they usually easily freaked out when they are babies? What should I do to get them to like me? I really want cuddle time with them because they are soooo cute!

Baths are very good for a dragon, but my guy cannot stand the water so I normally do once a month baths and give him a really good misting while he is basking once a week; he is fine.

And this is with a water bowl in the tank I also heavily mist his collard greens.

With mine, I put a small flat rock in the tub so they could get up out of the water some and they like to hold on to it, but as mine grew
they forgot all about the rock. Mine get a bath every other day and they love it

my dragon hates baths, but he's kinda getting used to them now though.  He is 2 years old and he gets a bath once a week.  As long as I'm sitting there the whole time and my hand is occassionally in the bath with him petting him or rubbing him he seems ALOT better.  He will sit on my hand as he's in the bath and I'll rub him and clean him up.

Once your beardie has trust in you, they will cuddle for sure!!  Just be patient!  Mine has so much trust in me now because I spend ALOT of time with him and he is so used to me now.  He will come to me and crawl up me to snuggle.  I'm definately his mommy!

My opinion.  If it works, then don't fix it.

You have seen them drinking from a bowl.  Fine. Provide a clean bowl of water daily.  As long as that is working, and you observe them drinking daily that's great.  You can still offer bathes though.. Once a week is fine.  You can determine usually, through the feces/urates if your dragons are hydrated enough.. If the stools are loose and watery, back off on the hydration.. If they are well formed, with a gel like substance present, then you're right on the mark.  If the stools are hard as rocks, and you see straining while passing, then up the amount of fluids in their diet..

Hope this helps.
