Well... There really isn't a max.  Your imagination and floor space is the limit.

The MINIMUM size is a 40 gal breeder. There really is no such thing as too large of a tank for them

I personally like something along the dimensions of a 75 gallon (a little longer than the 40 breeder) but a 40 gallon breeder will be just fine as well.

but i need something cheap so im guessing a 40 is fine also whats the difference between a regular 40 or a breeder 40?

A standard 40 gallon aquarium measures 48 1/4 x 12 3/4 x 16 7/8
The breeder tank is 36 x 18 x 18
You notice the width of the standard iss 12 3/4 inches.

i would say give it his own room! Smiley i have mine in a very very large rubber maid  its cheap and it works very nicely...you could also do a baby pool Smiley if you dont have a jumper, height isnt terribly important to them..
