i have had my baby bd since for 2 months now and hes been really scared of me. so while feeding i would take feeder tweasers and feed him crickets from those with my hand very close to get him to trust me.. however now he just bit at my finger. not in a defensive way but like with his tounge trying to eat my fingertip. should i be worried? will he keep doing this? cause it scared the shit out of me lol. also what should i do? i told him no sternly and kept my hands around him to show i wasnt scared. is that what i should keep doing?

I figure after a few weeks your bd should be comfortable with you by now. You should try holding him from time to time that way he can get use to your scent, that should build up some trust. As far as him biting you, its common for bd's to mistake your finger for food especially when its feeding time. Happens to me when my dragon is on his daily cricket hunt. If I stick my hand during his cricket run, I'm bound to get bit. However keeping your hand near him is also a good way to build trust and just move in closer day by day but to me that just seems to tiresome. I would just pick him up and play with him or get an old t shirt of yours and let him lay on it when its bed time for him. That in my opinion is a good way to build trust and is fun  Grin ... Hope this helps

tshirt idea i would think be a good idea so he gets used to your scent, I read on here about putting a glove on and just letting them bite you so they eventually learn the same hand that feeds them isnt scared of either, however if it was while feeding i imagine it was mistake.

did it hurt? lol

My friend its all about enjoyment of your little guy...

this is what i do and it works every time !!!!!  Grin
It is important to enjoy your little dragon to the fullest extent. If i were you i would make a motion to not worry so much. No matter what you do they will turn out fabulously!

here is what you do

begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F

Then Sift flour, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl.
Add sugars, eggs, vanilla and butter.
With an electric hand held mixer at medium speed, beat until smooth and well mixed, about 1 minute.
Stir in chocolate chips,
Drop by tablespoonful about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets.
bake for 10-12 min, cool and enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1 package (12 ounces or 2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips

Smiley

im saying dont be so serious! hang out and make some cookies ( that is a chocolate chip cookie recipe). You need to have a sense of humor when raising animals. Its alot of fun, and while it can cause worry, you need to have faith in yourself that you will raise them right. I suggest that you just let him be a baby dragon, and then when he gets alittle bigger and older you can fool more with him.

I wouldnt sweat it too much Smiley he sounds just hes just a nervous little animal, you would be too if a massive hand was grabbing at you.

the cookies are delicious and i wasnt kidding when i said you should make them. I think everything is better with food.

i found that if i kept my dragon where he could see me for the bulk of his or her day ( because i have two, but they dont live together) ( though they are husband and wife) ....then they would get comfortable with my presence even if i didnt go and touch them. And BDs are prey animals, hawks and other large animals swoop form above and grab them. you will notice when your dragon gets older and Bigger that when you take him outside he will constantly have his eyes to the sky, he will se a bird, and airplane before you see it.

so my point is when you allow your hand to come into the cage he will see you as a predator. Try , not touching him, and just putting the crickets in his tank. Move his tank so its in a place where he can see you for most of his day, just doing your stuff, and make it so that his tank is almost eye level with you. It really helps. I cant pretend to know where you put your little guy in accordance to your house but most people put them alittle lower.

its cool... Just remember hes a baby and that he is always changing.

do you know how old he is? it might just be puberty which will go away.
