I was about to feed Bernard his crickets, and as I picked him up I saw something at the base of his tail. I thought it was just skin (he's due for a shed), but it isn't. I don't know what it is, but it's protruding from his cloaca and I'm very worried. Could it be a prolapse of some kind? He doesn't seem to be in pain or discomfort.

It looks to be hormonal secretion.  Leave it be.
Give him a nice soak.  Check it again for the next week daily, but do not tug or pull.

I got him to the vet, and that's what it ended up being; discharge from the hemipenal sack. I'd never read anything about it before and it scared the heck out of me.
