I don't know why he did what he did. When I knew him I was a teenager. He was just a nice guy with a great collection of herps.
It seems he didn't have anymore lizards. They didn't speak of them in the article. Snakes can live much longer than lizards can without food. When I knew him he had Chams, beardies, gilas, and monitors. None of which you would see at a pet store.
I remember one time we were at his shop after hours. He was cleaning out a cobra cage and moved the snake in to a holding bin. Before he could get the top on, the cobra came back out. He recovered it quickly, but the sight of the momentarily free cobra almost gave my mother a heart attack
