Miss Priss- I miss you baby girl!

« on: January 12, 2011, 01:13:37 AM »

So I met some local fish lovers (lol) and worked out a trade with two of them. This is what the trade was from me and them:

I trade a trio (1m 2f) of sailfin mollies for a TON of mystery snails and some of them are just MASSIVE!!! A few are bigger than golf balls!

Then I traded another trio of sailfin mollies for a m/f pair of Rainbow Shiners and a bunch of aquatic plants. Plus I bought a presumed Marbled Crayfish hybrid. Supposedly Marbled Crayfish (which are all females and reproduce by cloning themselves) can be bred to males in the same genus. The mom of the baby I got was possibly bred with an Electric Blue Crayfish or a Blue 'Lobster'. She's still a baby but I'm just so in love with this little gal!
Shiner:

Blue Marbled Cray:

Sadly she started tearing up the plants: http://s654.photobucket.com/albums/uu261/KnECritters/Blue%20Marbled%20Crayfish/?action=view&current=1-11-11021.mp4
Those, and possibly the snails, will be removed from her tank in the morning. May add my ghost shrimp to it. They are super fast so shouldn't have an issue with them getting eaten by her.

Those are some very cool looking snails! I've always been a fan of invertebrates.

Me too! I'm about to get rid of all the fish and just keep inverts for now, especially since they are breeding.
Currently I have a 29 gallon with marbled crayfish (....don't ask me how many....lol) and ghost shrimp
20 gallon with adult mystery snails, ghost shrimp, and misc. fish I'm looking to sell
10 gallon with baby mystery snails, pond snails, and misc. fish I'm looking to sell
10 gallon with 2 crays (believe they are procambarus alleni, but not sure yet) and ghost shrimp

The marbled crays I'm breeding to sell as reptile food (for monitor type lizards and turtles mainly), fish food, and bait. The mystery snails I'm breeding to sell as pets. The ghost shrimp are just now starting to breed. I have 2 females that are 'berried up' with eggs. Won't be selling them anytime soon though as I want to get a good colony of them in each tank as they REALLY help to keep the tanks clean.Very entertaining to watch too.
