Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has ever given or used apple cider vinegar for itchy skin with dogs. I've tried oatmeal baths, medicated shampoos, fish oil in his food, switching to an organic lamb and rice type dog food, and he is still itching. When I last took him to the vet for his checkup she didn't seem too concerned. I just want him to be as happy as possible and this apple cider vinegar is my last try before maybe an allergy shot? Thanks Smiley

What is the cause of the itchy skin ?
I have a dog that chews all her hair off, due to allergy to flea bites.  That was easily remedied with a monthly application of topical flea killer.

I went through the same thing... Until I went.. Duh !
Now.. no more issues..
Hope this helps !

If your dog is itching that much and your vet doesn't seem concerned about it I would recommend getting a second opinion at another vets office. I would recommend getting an allergy test. They can tell you exactly what your dog is allergic to. It even will break it down to dust and grasses, everything! I've worked at quite a few vets offices and the last vet I worked for was really good with allergy dogs. The test may be a little pricey but it is way worth it.

He did have fleas earlier this summer that I couldn't get rid of until the vet gave him some capstar which helped a lot. But he still continued to itch. But yeah, I'll prob go to a different vet and get an allergy test done. He's part Australian shepherd and I've read that they have a lot of allergy problems and dry skin. I've been giving him fish oil for a few months now and it's helped his coat and skin some, and the apple cider vinegar only helps temporarily. I was trying to fix it without going to the vet, but it seems I don't have any other options. Thanks guys. Smiley
