Remember the picture of her right front foot, and the way the claw looked like it was impacted in the foot, not growing all the way out? Well what looked like a claw was actually only where the claw had chipped and split. Poor girl had an entire claw grown in, but instead of coming out like it should it bent back under and into her foot. It had been there so long that hair was grown over it! The vet removed 4 BIG pieces of claw from that poor girl that had been imbedded between her toes! She acts like it's already feeling better, so I'm very happy the vet was willing to look at her and let my son make payments for her surgery. Poor baby! The vet said it had probably already started growing that way before she was even weaned. He also said despite her size (average size of a 6 to 8 month old) she's actually only about 4 months old.

Her poor paw before going to the vet

What the vet removed from her paw - my son wanted to keep the pieces. I have no idea why other than that he's 13 and such things are fascinating to him!

Her paw now. It's tender and sore of course, but she's walking better and not crying nearly as much.

Aww, the poor little kitty. I'm happy she's with your family now to take care of her.
Btw, I'm very impressed that your son is making payments to the vet, at 13 that's shows a lot of maturity. I work in a high school and I doubt most of my students would do that!

Is she polydactyl by any chance?  It looks like it in the pics.  Main reason I ask is because we had a cat a long time ago that was polydactyl and she was very proned to deformations in her claws, too.  I'm glad she seems to be getting better.
