Hey, were new to the site and need some HELP!!! we recently bought my 1 1/2 year old male a female which was 2 years old! when we introduced them to see if they got on, everything went according to plan, black throat, head bobing and the wave from the female, then he tried his luck before i split it up (reason was just to see if they got on so later i could build her up with calcium before properly introducing them) its been a few weeks now and we have introduced them twice. only thing, is that when their together he puffs out his throat, goes realy flat and opens his mouth and tries to fend her off when she seems interested! and sometimes they have started fighting! and 'she' has started to head bob and her throat turns black every now and then! is 'she' a 'he'?? or is this normal? do we keep puttin them together until it happens??
When ever they see each other through the vivs, he starts bobin his head and she starts waving!

please help me ANYONE!!!!

thank you Anthony and Stacey

hi and welcome to the forum! first off i would like to just ask if you are familiar with beardies at all? if not i highly suggest you not breed or try to breed at the moment...its not as easy as it sounds and its VERY expensive...you will need to find the definite sexes of both dragons cuz there is a possibility it is 2 males i would also keep them apart in separate cages...if you got them from the same place i personally wouldnt breed them unless you were 1000000% sure they arent related take a look at the caresheet: http://bearded-dragons.com/boards/index.php/topic,8.0.html here for general beardie info and breeding 101: http://bearded-dragons.com/boards/index.php/topic,7.0.html for more breeding specific info...also your female should be a MINIMUM of 350 grams before you even think of breeding along with being 18+ months of age

hey! thanks for the advice, they are kept in 2 seperate vivs which are facing in opposite directions so they cant see each other, and they are defo not related as i bought him when he was 3 months old where as she is from the other side of the country and is 6 months older than him! i do know a little about beardies and their behaviour but we are first time breeders so its all kinda new to us!
is it normal that the male cowers in the corner with his beared out and mouth gaping, and whenever she comes close to him he tilts and goes flat to fend her off???

thanks again for the advice and help!

anthony and stacey!
