A year old... How much food?

Well, I began to notice that Thriller was getting quite sluggish. He spent a lot of time, if not all day in the cold part of his tank and was putting himself to sleep in his cave extremely early... like by 2 or 3pm. I began to wonder if maybe he was doing the whole brumation thing. I slowed down his food and now he seems to be back and perky.
He did the whole sluggish sleep all day for about 2 weeks then I cut back on the food amounts and he sprung right back up.
I am currently feeding him about 10-15 1/2-1inch crickets a day and then some veggies... but like a leaf or so of kale or mustard greens (3 square inches or so).
Is that normal? He still poops right on schedule... same time every day haha and otherwise he acts fine. It is when I feed him 20 crickets he gets sluggish. For a while though, he was eating 30-40+ at a time!!
He isn't fat at all. I wouldn't call him skinny, but he sure isn't too fat. I just wanna know if this sounds like enough food for him, and also if over feeding would make him sluggish. I know that when I over eat... I feel pretty sluggish and all I wanna do is sleep!

Typically between 12 and 18 months you want to feed them all the bugs they'll eat in 15 minutes once a day, as well as greens available all day every day. That's the rule of thumb, but there are always some exceptions and it sounds like your guy may be one of them. I would still offer greens all day for him to nibble on, but keep doing what you're doing with the bugs.

shouldn't at 1 1/2 years you should cut down on the bugs? I was told by an expert that twice a week for my 1 1/2 beardie was perfect. I guess there are soooo many opinions out there! He is still gaining wt, and doing really good. He doesn't really like his salad lately though, even if I change it up! I give lots of variety.

At 18 months, cutting them down to 50 to 60 bugs a week is considered ideal. That can be done by offering all they want a couple times a week or a few each day. Some dragons are ready for their adult diets sooner and others later than 18 months. I allow my dragons to adjust their diets on their own unless one is being particularly stubborn about it.
