Hi I could really use some advice, I have only kept beardies for about a year and recently rescued two more dragons. The male is just over a year old and I have had him for 3 months now but for the past two weeks he has been in season. He is going around doing all the usual head bobbing and stamping, black beard and chest etc. I have put him with a mature female for the past few days in the hope that he would get it out of his system and start calming down once they had mated but there is no sign of it. He has been refusing to eat for about 6 days now and has started to lose weight. I am worried about him. Could anyone tell me how long this behaviour is likely to last and what I may be able to do to encourage him to eat. I have even tried him with his favourite Locusts but even they will not tempt him... From what I have seen he hasn't managed to actually copulate, just go through the motions and fails at the end. His setup is fine, right temps etc and he has always been perfectly healthy and happy, enjoys being handled and bathed regularly too. Embarrassed Any sound advice would be appreciated I can find lots of information about caring for females during mating but nothing on the males. I made a lot of effort to thoroughly research keeping beardies before I got any and want him to have the best life possible.

no worries.  Dragons don't come "in season"
His head bobbing is a sign of him asserting himself.  Dominant behavior and normal.

If he's not sexually mature, he won't mate.  Each dragon is different.  My suggestion is to remove him from the enclosure with the female.  He'll eventually just run her down and damage her by biting in his mating attempts.
Give him a couple of weeks and try again.
