I've found some great things on Ebay, but my favorite place to get them is to go outside and find my own.

what if i were to get a huge piece of wood from outside(safe of course with the heating and emitting fumes) but how would i sanitize it so that i know there isnt anything in there? im talking something the size that can fit the length of a 75 gallon tank. my oven is definitely not big enough and sure as heck dont have a huge pot to boil them in.

Bleach water. Put it in a big tub and soak for a couple of days. Then rinse and air it out outside for at least a week on concrete or something where bacteria won't get to it.

If it is Rock the best thing to do is boil it for approx 30 minutes or You can bake things wrapped in foil on 250 for an hour. This will kill anything in or on it.

I like to find knarled, twisted, cool looking, muscodine vines to use. You can find ones young enough to still bend easily and shape them how you want them, they grow so fast they will be ready to use by late summer or fall. Cut all of the vine that you dont want, leaving just the part you want and it will really grow fast. Im making some to spell names in cursive. I need shorter names though. I guess I could shape separate vines into individual letters. Its about herpin time anyway, so I better get going. A vine saying herpin time would be cool. Anyone have any requests? I have too many vines & they are breaking my tree limbs and making it hard to squirrel hunt. I may as well put them to good use, they are so thick you can barely shake berries off anymore. If I cant fit mine in the oven, I use hydrogen peroxide, denatured alcohol, & bleach.
