Im not sure if this is normal but I took my beardie out I had him in my hand, then I let him walk off and as i observed what he did, he got on top of this blanket that was folded up and just fell asleep, hasnt does this before when I take him out.
any idea on what this may be?

sounds pretty normal.  reptiles are cold blooded, they get cold often.  blankets are warmer than the ambient temp.  he was comfy.
