Hello,

I know this question has been asked before and there are conflicting outcomes.

I justed "rescued" 2 bearded dragons from someone who had them on a 90 percent mealworm diet.  They are rather inactive but do move around.

Question being since mealworms are low in protien could they just be weak muscles.  I keep thinking MBD but they really show know signs of this other than being lazy.  They were also had feed everything and given water through an eye dropper so they never had to move much for their food or water.

thanks

Any answer insist is greatly appreciated

Hi there.
Let's see if we can't offer some help your way.

Okay, was there a UVB bulb present over these dragons ? Do you know how old it is ?

Any calcium used on the food source ? If so, how often ?

Your best bet, would be to schedule an appointment with a herp vet, and let that staff evaluate these dragons, do fecal exams to identify any parasites if present, and to examine them for the possible MBD.

What you can do in the meantime, is to provide UVB, and calcium 5 days a week if these animals are UNDER a year in age, 2 times a week if Over a year in age.
Offering them a better, well balanced diet will help their general health as well.
Hope this helps.
