My Boy Butters

I just wanted to comment on how much better superworms are than crickets!  I feed both to my dragon alternating when I can.  I will still do that cause I know its best for him.  But I just felt like sharing and seeing what others think.  Superworms dont stink and are easy to handle.  They dont EVER escape, and my favorite thing is that his poop is ALWAYS well formed and odorless.  Whereas with crickets its still formed MOST of the time, but stinks!  It's not a maybe he has parasites stink, but its still gross.  And you dont have to feed the supers as much as you do the crickets.

Anyways just thought I'd share my thoughts!   Grin

For convenience, supers are definitely easier to deal with. Nutritionally, they're seriously lacking though. They're high in phosphorus and chitin - meaning they're hard to digest and they keep the dragon from using all the calcium he takes in. They're also much more fatty than crickets. They really shouldn't be a large part of the diet.

I had to use them when the cricket virus made everyone short, and no stores were selling any.  The only other close option I had at the time is supers.  But now the petstore is selling crickets, so he's getting them mostly.
