My Boy Butters

Hello,  I use a T12 Bulb (Repti-Sun 10.0) its 10inches app. away from my beardie from where he sits in his viv.  The company that we found that is selling them, sent us the wrong size.  So we contacted them and they said they dont make it in a T12 strenght.  So we got a T8 bulb instead.  Would this be okay to use???  My husband will have to by a new fixture if it is, so he needs to know ASAP!  Thank you for your help!!!

to answer your ? yes the T-8 bulb will work, just like the T-12 lamp did. But you are correct, the fixture for the T-8 lamp is different than the T-12 fixture. That difference is the ballast, T-8's use an electronic ballast where as the T-12's use a magnetic ballast

My experience in changing over 40+ bulbs from T-12's to T-8's is that I've never had to replace a fixture or the ballast. (unless they were bad fixtures to begin with)
The T-8 is a smaller bulb in diameter, and easily fits where the T-12 went.
