I have heard you can clean your beardies tank with vinegar and water.
Two questions:
1. Does is disinfect as well as a bleach solution?
2. What would be the ration of vinegar and water?

I think this would be healthier if it does disinfect.

Hi.  I wanted to help out and answer as best I can, your questions.

Disinfecting on the bleach level will kill more than vinegar.. The downside to that, is using bleach, means totally airing out the enclosure, and build ups of the chemical used in bleach.  Build ups = toxic over time..

Vinegar is natural, no build ups of toxic chemicals, so yes this is the healthier option.
I use that or rubbing alcohol myself..

Hope this helps.

Yes this does!

Do you just wipe down everything with rubbing alcohol or dilute it?

Thanks!

Rubbing alcohol has evaporating capabilities that are non residual.  Meaning when the liquid dries, it actually evaporates without leaving a chemical, oil, or other residence on the surface.  This is why you can use it at strength without diluting it.  I buy it by the gallon and typically dip what i can dip easily, and put some in a spray bottle and do the "wipe down" thing.

Be sure your items are dry and there is no standing alcohol in your enclosure.  Also remember, this product has fumes (not so kewl for humans either)

Thank you so much!
Rubbing alcohol sounds like the thing!

I will make sure to really air it out.

Thanks again!

I come across a really interesting way of cleaning my beardies VIV, I use; 100 parts rubbing alc, 2 parts Eucalyptus oil, 1 part tea tree oil. Rubbing alcohol sure does kill just about everything you can think of, the Euc & TT just add a little bit of extra oomph. And leave the VIV smelling pretty nice compared to what it usually does. Both oils are totally natural and evap entirely after quite some time (Nowhere near as quick as alcohol).
