Hi guys,

still designed the cage here but was looking at lighting alternatives.
My local reptile guy had a Zoo medd Mercury vapor 100 watt bulb, $80 at the store so will for sure buy this online if it's any good  Grin anyways, he said that would be all the heat/light i would need for a 4x2x1.5 cage!!! Would this be correct? I mean i would love you just to have one light it just seems odd but again i'm new at beardies but also experienced enough to know that not all people at pet stores know what they are talking about!

any ideas? Wooden cage, vents on the back top of the cage and acrylic door!

Zoo meds mvb isn't a great one at all. The t-rex active uv heat and the megaray are the only ones I'd ever consider for my dragons. 100 watts is probably going to be too much, especially if your enclosure isn't an open top.

OK, that's why we have you pro's, so is there a great all in one bulb you can recommend?

To clarify my cage setup, which is still a working progress. working on it with my son and he's 5 and a perfectionist, nothing is good enough :-)

Here's a picture, 1/4 of the top is open where i planned the basking light / all-in one light to go if possible. about 13 inches from his backing spot. plus there is a 1 - 1.5 inch gap along the entire length on the back side and then the front door has about 1/10 inches cap all around for aeration!

As Crystal said, either the T rex or the Mega ray are the two highly suggested if you want to go that route.  Both offer heat and UVB.
MVBs need to be mounted to give at least 12" distance from the highest place your dragon can reach.
Hope that helps.
