Ok, so I keep reading about the high amount of crickets that they are supposed to eat.  I finally got a real glimpse of that today.  Magma chowed down on quite a few crickets and dubia today.  She even plowed through about 1/4 of her salad!  She doesn't like the phoenix though.  Anyone in Austin want them?  I got 600.

So I believe you all now.

But I still have a question.  Since Dubia's are so much fatter and juicer than crickets how many of these should I allow her to eat?  If she's eating 50 crickets in a sitting how many dubia does that equal to?

Also, does anyone know anything about the Blatta Lateralis roach?  They seem to be a lot faster breeder than the Dub's.  Are they safe to feed?  The guy I got my Dub's from feeds them to his GF's beardies.

Pretty sure same rule applied for feeding dubia's, as many as your BD wants to eat twice a day within a 10-15 min window. My guy usually gobbles up about 15 per sitting. Sometimes more sometimes less, I think it depends on the size of them as well, my guy will normally eat ALOT more very small ones compared to maybe 5-6 medium sized ones. Remember no feeder should be bigger then the space between their eyes.

Other then that let them go to town on as many as they want!

I'm happy to hear she's eating so much for you already! I think she knows how spoiled she's going to be Smiley

She only ate two today.   Angry

I'm going to pick up some larger crickets.  All I have now are pin heads.  I can't seem to keep the adults alive.  She seems interested in them and did eat them but I think that they are too small.

And does anyone know about the Lateralis?

I've kept Lateralis with no issues and my dragons loved them. They breed fast, they move fast and are the same size as an adult cricket. Not many other people have had the same luck with them that I have though so use your own judgement

They are known to be escape artists although I never had any escape. People have said they have lasted in their homes long after they have escaped.

hmm ok

do they need to be dusted?

the same guy I got the dubs from has a lot of laterilis.  I got to see them and play with them.  They're cool and much smaller than the dubs and grow faster.

I think I may get some in lieu of crickets.

Kid is sick so no crickets today.

Is it ok to put uneaten dusted bugs back in with the others?
