Getting him a "friend" isn't a great idea at any time. Beardies are solitary animals that do best housed alone. Housing together leads to intimidation, failure to thrive, nipped toes and tails, and often times fights to the death of one or both dragons.

Once you have the initial setup and equipment (which CAN be pricey) they are quite cheap to look after. As for ease of looking after, I think it's quite easy, but you have to just keep making sure their conditions as in temps etc are kept spot on. There's a caresheet here, have a look at it and you'll be able to gauge for yourself

it really depends on what the set up is tho, if it's just stuff for show and not stuff they really need, then i'd say no. because after paying the 250-300, you're still going to have to shell out more money to get the stuff thats needed for it.

I bought everything brand new for our Beardie baby Dude. Ironically the weekend before we bought him I was at a Pet Bird auction and they had tons of lights, sand, encloures etc for a tenth of the cost new. I would rather buy new and know everything works and has not been contaminated in some way. Dude was on sale at Petsmart for $39 and we spent well over $400 to set him up.

well the viv all you'd have to do is sanitize it. but with the light bulbs, i'd say yes, buy brand new. the fixtures you could get used as long as you know they work.
