We are new beardie owners. My son bought a re-homed 1-2 year old female beardie about a month ago. We know nothing about her history, but yesterday she laid 3 yellow and 4 white/leathery eggs. We didn"t even know she was gravid, so missed the nesting behavior. Can we expect more eggs? Should we make her a nesting box? She's still a little plump, but I can"t feel any lumps in her tummy. However, I did miss the first ones, so who am I to say?

what I've read is that eggs that are yellow aren't fertilized. The 4 should be fertilized. I would set up a lay box just in-case she has another batch

yes, tore up her reptile carpet prior to first lay, scratching around a bit again.

Definitely set her up a laying box. You'll find great instructions in the breeding 101 thread on this board. She most certainly has more eggs that she needs to lay.

OK, so we put her in a laying box - big deep plastic tub with about 10 inch layer of moist potting soil - and she tried to climb out. Should we just leave her in there or wait until she's shredding things up again? If we leave her there, how long? How do we tell if she's laid more eggs?

I'd leave it in there because she'll go in there when she's ready to lay again

Oh - I thought we were supposed to have a separate tub. Should we put something in her vivarium instead?

If she's gonna try to lay eggs you want to have a lay box in her viv because moving her while she wants to lay eggs can stress her out and she might not want to lay her eggs once in a different tank
