These are two babies I'm expecting in a few weeks.  They are a couple hatchlings I'm receiving from my red foot breeder in exchange for a marbled cherry head I gave him last year.  Nice trade I think! I haven't decided on names yet..they both are pretty similar in carapace color, but their head markings are different.  Any suggestions??  Grin

Thought about that! For now I'm probably going to call them by markings...curly (for the curly shaped pattern on the nose) and sidebar for the horizontal bar pattern on the other's nose.  I have a hard time coming up with neutral names, and I won't be able to sex these guys until they are at least 8 inches long (5-6 years of age).

I won't know that for another six years or so, lol.  Long time to wait!  Here is a pic I snapped of them eating their berries a couple of days ago. Really the only pic I've gotten because they head straight for the hide when they get done eating  Roll Eyes.  Maybe in a couple more weeks when they settle in a little more...

They are very easy to care for Alex.  They don't require a UVB light because they are a forest animal.  If you notice the big dark eyes, they really don't like bright light.  I keep a plant/aquarium light above their food dish so they can see their food.  They have to be kept warm and the humidity in their enclosure needs to be kept high.  Here is the breeder's website that I purchased these guys from...http://www.redfoots.com.  He has been doing this successfully for a long time and his care sheets are very easy.  He also gives you simple plans for enclosures.  They do get to be up to 30 pounds when full grown.  To see his breeders and the hatchlings he has available, http://www.redfoots.com/
