 :'(  Hi All,
I thought I would let you know that Thor passed away peacefully on September 7, 2010 (Tuesday).  It was the day after his 5th birthday.

He never really recovered properly from the ordeal with the tests, and medications he’d had to endure, in order to try and help him.

It was such a shock, as the day was just as normal as ever with his routine.  I had taken him out of his tank to play and exercise as usual during the morning.   Then later that day, I was running a few minutes late with his afternoon session.   He looked up at me telling me he was waiting to come out again.   He was so cocky about it which made me smile.

I took him out.  He had a little play and more exercise.  I then picked him up and put him on my knee.  He just stayed there letting me stroke him and talk to him.  It hadn’t dawned on me that it was his way of saying goodbye.

After a while, he began cooling down, so I had to put him back in his tank to bask on his rock and warm up again.

Around 5pm he did the same thing that he has always done.  He got off his rock to go and lay on his lower basking spot where he goes to sleep.  He has always done that.  And it has always been at the same time.   He always went to sleep 2 hours before lights out.   His lights went out at 7pm.

He died shortly after settling down for the night in his sleep.

I’m still trying to come to terms with his passing.

Although I knew it was coming, I was and am totally devastated.

I haven’t stopped crying yet.  I really miss him!!!!!

In loving memory of Thor

I've read this post over and over again. I'm so sorry you lost Thor after such a battle! You are a true animal lover and Thor had the best parent of all. One that would go to no end to insure the best you could give. I admire that and I believe as these are truly intelligent animals Thor also knew this.

I'm wondering if it was simply genetics? As in all species some gene pools are stronger than others.  I hope you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase your Dragon? All in all, I wish everyone that owned these wonderful animals gave them the care as you did yours! Godspeed to Thor.

I am so so sorry for your loss.  We all know how much he was loved and how well he was cared for.  He was so lucky to have you, and I'm sure he knew that as well.  {{Hugz}}   :'(

Hi All,

9west2124, kawa9, zebrajanie, Carolyn and lynnuk

Thank you so much for your kind and comforting words.  It really means a lot to me, and is greatly appreciated.  I also want to thank you, and all the others, who have been there for me and Thor.  The help and support has been wonderful.

I don't think I would have gotten through it all, if I hadn't had all of you.

kawa9 - I purchased Thor from Sheffield Exotics.  They specialize in Reptiles and Amphibians.  I know they deal with a professional breeder of Bearded Dragons.  But, I don't know anything about him/her.

I suppose it's possible that it could be something to do with genetics.  I really don't know.

But, if that was the case, it would explain why Thor was given a clean bill of health.  The vets could not find anything wrong with him, other than the obvious (his hydration problem).  They were just as puzzled as I was.

Maybe it was simply his time.  Maybe this breeders dragons don't have the longevity that some of the other breeders dragons have.  I don't know.

All I do know, is that I really miss him,  Sad  I wish he was still here with me.

9west2124 - Sorry to hear about your beardies with limb issues and digits falling off.  That really has got to be an awful thing to witness.  I couldn't imagine having to deal with that  Sad

I hope you have better luck from now on, and that your beardie gives you so much joy, fun and affection, as I had with Thor.

Best Wishes to all.
