up until now the water crystals and veggies have given off enough moisture.  now for the last 2 days the gague for the humidity has been -- and im assuming that because it's out of range which i really don't think it's too must moisture because otherwise it'd probably be raining in my house, or least it would feel like it.  so with ruling that out, it's too dry.  the gague is supposed to go from 30-90.  so basically we're not doing good eh?  soooo im thinking about misting, since i haven't done this yet, anyone have any pointers?  i mean i don't want to mist the crates right?  and just a little squirt should do right?

we did for a day or 2 last week but this week has been pretty chilly.  rainy gloomy day yesterday too, thats why i thought i'd wait another day thinking that it would kick back in today.  but we have them in the den and it doesn't have a vent for the a/c or heat.  and we keep the door closed to it.  the heat in the bin has been pretty steady at 85, i think thats good right? lol  im going on about 3 days with the reading for humidity as --.

I'm guessing that your monitor is compromised.. Moisture has seeped inside.. is this a therm/humidity combo ?

Personally I mist the crates as well because they absorb some of the moisture and release it slowly. Ive never had mold issues in my enclosure either. I usually do 2 or 3 sprays per side ( my colony has a divider ). The young roaches will often find the water droplets on the sides of the enclosure and drink them, it's kinda neat to watch them all crawl out after you spray. I don't know if this works but I also put a bottle of water in the corner of my enclosure with some holes punched in the lid. It doesn't get moldy and the water level has been slowly going down so it is evaporating. I don't have a humidity gauge so I can't tell you for sure what kind of numbers  this gets but I have yet to see a roach have an unsuccsessfull molt so I assume it's humid enough.

yes, it is one of those zilla combos and i have the probes just hangin in the back of the bin and then i have a just therm hangin on the other side of the bin to let me know what the cooler end is like.

Just out of curiosity... do you have a second one you can double check the humidity with ?  I'm still feeling that this little machine is bollixed somehow...
