We have a Boxer (Annie) and an Akita (Anita Akita). Anita is by far the quickest learning and most loyal family/guard dog that I've ever seen. Anita takes her "job" seriously all the time 24 hours a day... to the point of being almost annoying at times. Annie is still my favorite because she's also very good at those things, but she's a complete goofball when there's no "danger" present.

i want a boxer soooooo bad!  one of my friends has a couple and they said they're horrible with jumping fences.  we have 4ft fence around our yard so i haven't gotten one yet cuz im worried it'll jump it.  do you have any issues with that gary?

I have no doubt that the average typical boxer would jump something just because it's there. Ask your friend about them being hyperactive, stubborn, chewing, etc. As a breed in general, they can be great dogs but they'll really test your patience. Often.

Annie is a little over 1 year old. She can easily clear a 4' high jump or climb a 6' privacy fence on command, but I don't recall her ever doing either on her own. She's had excellent training and I believe that makes all the difference in the world with boxers.
