Breeders or people with experience with this

What company is your company of choice for shipping your dragons?

I've used UPS to ship my babies out and USPS once before in the past to ship an adult dragon...USPS bites...had it not been for the person insisting on me shipping that way, i wouldve chose UPS...unfortunately the nearest Fedex is almost 2 hours from me so I haven't been able to use them...I've had no problems with UPS at all tho

i spoke with ups not to long ago.  they sent me their list of allowed reptiles and though frilled dragons and monitors were on there beardies were not and they told me that if its not on the list they wont ship it.  IE they wont ship beardeds or was i told incorrectly.

That's their "policy".  They also won't guarantee our shipments, nor honor the markings on the box such as "This Side UP" or "FRAGILE".

Fed Ex requires a certification, which you can apply for.  There are forms to fill out, an approval process, a verified payment account associated with the shipping account and a pretty basic "criteria" for shipping to follow.

There are problems with any shipper.  Over Charges, complaints, ect.  That never changes.

so basically you just ship them via ups and ship them as a monitor or something?

Nope, I have a fed ex account.

According to UPS "policy", if you ship unauthorized animals, they have the right to confiscate, prosecute and collect without having to deliver.

I have had extremely good luck with usps , none of the boxes were even bent a little...  and not shaken up, to my knowledge my lizards came out calm and chill.

I've shipped using UPS several times and received many dragons using UPS and one dragno through FEDEX. The one experience I have with fedex was far less than good, and I've never had a serious problem with UPS.
I was unaware they don't have a policy for bearded dragons. I've always told them that's what I was shipping, and they've marked the box as live, harmless reptile and sent it on without an issue.

But we are talking about legality here. Legally, unless something has changed very recently (I know they were working on it with UPS), its illegal to ship via UPS. This doens't mean you own't recieve the animal a breeder shipped to you nor does it mean that you wouldn't be able to ship it. But if your box was stopped at another hub somewhere down the line and just the right or 'wrong' person (however you choose to look at it) saw it, legally they have the right to confiscate it, and charge you shipping still, PLUS they could sue. Personally, rather than dealing with that headache, I would rather ship the legal way. I am not a huge fedex fan, but I do have my acct with them legally authorizing me to ship live reptiles (no hots). I could go with Delta Dash but people are trying to save money, not spend extra these days. And DHL no longer ships animals. So like I said, unless it has changed recently, Fedex and Delta are the ONLY legal means of shipping reptiles. USPS I wouldn't trust with my crickets much less a $200 animal. And UPS, well, if they can sue me for shipping and keep my animal, no thanks. I will wait till its legalized. JMO

You can choose to have FedEx pick them up at your door instead of you travelin to their hub. I think it costs like $5 but its better than the two hour drive. I am lucky, I live next to the Airport in Nashville, so fedex is really close for me (less than 5 minutes away).
