aaaawwwwww look she's trying to give me a little venomous kiss.....

this was sort of weird never saw a cottonmouth in an arboreal setting before....

Steve, I would love some information concerning pictures #3 and #5.  What can you tell me about these specimens ?  I live in south east Ga, I know I have different species, but those just seem to catch my eye each time I look at your photos of this current herping trip..
Thanks !

pic three is streamside or cave salamandars (the two species are almost identical looking and i'm not as obsessive about sallies as i am snakes, cave's i believe are a bit brighter than the streamside) pic five is a spotted salamander basically they are in the same family as the marbled and tiger, very large bodied robust salamander they come out the first warm day in spring (or winter) right after the first good rain to lay their eggs in the woodland pools. I just had an opportunity to work with NYS DNR on the migration to document some of these pools they are a really cool species large robust salamanders, they must be fairly fossorial because you rarely see them after the period of activity in early spring. Since you like the sallies heres a few more pics from the trip.......

oh and this is kind of a fun one that i forgot to post from the trip see how many cottonmouths you can find in this pic, it's sort of a venomous "where's waldo"
