Anyone else have dogs and a dragon? How does that work out for you? 1 of the dogs is a miniature schnauzer and the other a lab mix. The apartment has 2 bed rooms, a living room, and a kitchen of open space, so it is not a single room or anything. I can shut the door to my room, but one of the dogs is mine. The dogs were left back home for this first year because me and my girlfriend thought it would be best to start living together without adding 2 relocated dogs into the mix. Is this doable? I realize every dog and dragon is different and yadda yadda, but has anyone actually had success? Thriller needs love too, and dogs are jealous creatures.

My dogs and cat have not come in contact with my beardie so I couldn't tell you. My cat is the only one that has noticed that theres a huge tank with something in it but he can't climb up to see what it is. On the other hand, my beardie is extremely curious when the dogs come in from their walk. I kick everyone oout of the living room when I need to let my beardie out for excercise and her bath.

Well he is in a tank on top of a 3 foot or so dresser. Maybe I could keep it to where they never saw him.

i have two miniature schnauzers. one is a year and a half, and she loves Nogard.. although she gets too rough sometimes by nudging him with her nose. Nogard does not appreciate that. Evie, eight years old, does not pay any attention to him.. my grandmother's dogs (miniature schnauzers) ..Zoe, who is six, is extremely hyper, and i dont even let her anywhere near Nogard, and Maisy, who is nine, pays no attention, Benz and Nikki(standard schnauzers) love him and lick him. It all depends, but just keep in mind, retrievers are duck/bird dogs yet are large and hyper, and schnauzers are guard/mouse dogs. it depends on the attitude, sometimes gender, and age. How ols are your dogs?? Georgia absolutely loves him, though and when she is not too wound up they bond very well

I have 3 Shih Tzus and i have trained the 2 females to "babysit" and "find" the dragons. It's worked out incredibly well. While i am bathing the dragons in a big tub on the floor, the dogs will sit there and "babysit". If the dragon gets out, the dogs will bark and follow him around until i come get it. If a dragon has escaped out of his enclosure, I've trained 1 of my dogs the "find" command and she will look high and low, in every room, until the dragon is found. I've even come home and found the dogs barking endlessly. I went to go see what was happening and there was my escape artist. I never would have found her where she was hiding if it wasn't for them. Dogs get a treat and a "good girls", and the dragon gets put back in her nice warm enclosure. And i can rest knowing that if there is any dragon loose in the house, they WILL be found. lol. My girls will do anything for a treat!!!
So it can work out very well. Just keep a close eye and see how your dogs react to it.

We also live in a 2 bedroom apt. At our peak we had 2 basset hounds, a cat, a beardie, a chameleon, 2 Pyxie frogs, and a pacman frog...We never had any issues.

Well, seems like it is settled then. Will probably bring the dog in May when school lets out.

My husband and I have a lot of pets... (see signature pic ) two of which are dogs. They're small dogs, but dogs nonetheless. I have no issues with my dogs, in fact, they barely notice the dragons and the dragons don't seem to be afraid of them. I never leave them in the same room together unsupervised, so I can't say what would happen in that scenario. My dogs are also gated off in the kitchen when we're away (and they're small) so perhaps that's a bit different than your situation. I have seen a lot of people with dogs (and cats) of all sizes and beardies so it is certainly possible to live together in harmony
