I took in a couple dragons at a sale a month or so ago because a stranger told me his wife said "don't bring them home with you!" They appear healthy, eat great almost anything put in their dish. The supposed female has a small tip missing off the tail and a couple toes. Guy didn't care to stick around for details and I've never kept dragons before so have nothing to go on but internet info. Quite a ~variety~ of that out there and this list looks like the best I've seen.

Questions are- Can you estimate the age by any physical observations? These appeared to be very close and tolerant of each other at first in a smaller setup, one even sleeping with it's arm over the other- was funny to see. Now in a larger tank (55gl) and lighting set right they aren't so "close" and seem more independent. Should I seperate them or if they've always been together is it better to leave them be?

Thanks to anyone that answers, can send pics if that will help.

First of all, welcome to the forum.
Please do separate your dragons as soon as you're able. The missing tail tip and toes is likely from being housed together. Dragons are solitary animals that thrive best when alone. Once separated they may go through some stress. This happens any time their environment changes and does not mean they miss each other - they're just reacting to change. Many keepers mistake this for missing each other and put the dragons back together. That never ends well.
Unfortunately there's no way to know their age without having their hatch date.

Thanks perfectly_flawed. I have a tank on stand by to plug in and heat up. Thanks for the welcome also  Smiley I get tunnel vision about things and forget basic courtesy of introducing myself sometimes. Thanks for the forum! I watch them a lot and have picked up on some things but this is the first place I found that gives info that makes sense to me, easier to interpret behavior now. Mostly a tortoise, snake and monkey keeper so I know things vary alot. They're sleeping in their usual snuggle position but imagine both will sleep just fine and less stressed tomorrow night.
My husband read some sites that said it was ok for one male and up to five females to be kept in a 55 gl tank, bad to feed them any greens, crickets or any bug protein when adults. Very glad to have found this forum, thanks again.

Well now... seems you got some inaccurate information... First off.. Welcome !
Okay. Let's tackle the multi dragons in one enclosure... yes it might be possible for more than one dragon to an enclosure, but figure a space of 6' squared for each animal, and that Miiiiight work.  Usually though, aggression, over breeding happens... it also makes parasite infestions easier to happen over and over again.
So, one dragon to an enclosure is the best, healthiest way to keep these animals.

On to the diet.  Adults will actually consume around 80% greens in their diets, and around 20% proteins.
Here is a handy list of foods you can use to offer your babies the very best.

Green is for staples daily, Black is for treats... Pretty much just ignore the rest, since they are questionable at best.  You still get plenty of variety with the green and black.

Since you have that second enclosure ready, go ahead and separate them today.  They will be better for the move...
