I had never heard of someone not liking guinea pigs. I can't deal with roaches, but guinea pigs I am ok with. Smiley

at my job we sell them for about $30 USD and you can use newspaper but be prepared for them to rip it up and chew it to pieces...as far as size they get about maybe 2-3 pounds sometimes nd about 12 inches long and as far as housing it in a 20 gal tank i dont recommend any closed enclosures for them or any small mammal especially one who requires a loose bedding...they tend to get dusty and the dust cant escape a closed off tank like that and lead to RIs and infections in the eyes etc etc also stay completely away from cedar...also just my personal opinion im not a big fan of them at all...like reptilelvr's wife...id rather feed them out to something than own one...they r too darn messy and smelly nd loud for my liking

lol very smelly and messy and loud, I must admit, not my favourites out of my pets, it's my mum that bought them and was supposedly going to care for them, but hey, guess who gets all he mucky jobs  Angry.

But in general their ok I spose, care is very simple and their fun to have around, just think twice about giving them free run of a carpeted room, their not the cleanest of creatures, and they love to chew...
