Type of Heat for Roaches
«

I have a 10g Sterilite and just recently purchased a ZooMed UTH.
- Can I place this directly on the bin or do I need to put something in between
- Will this provide enough heat inside the bin or should I go with a heat emitter
Thanks in advance.
oh...and what happened to the site? Looks nicer but everything 'restarted'. I even had to re-create my login.

hey, i just have a heat mat resting on the bottom of my roach bin, with the wires going out through a sealed hole in the side... the roaches do fine, breeding like crazy!!! i guess if it is too hot on the mat itself they just climb up through the egg crates... its been like this for about 3 months now with no problems. hope that helped

I have a human heating pad that stays on all the time, under the container. It stays right around 89* in there, and I have a vent cut and screen glued so the temps won't get too high.

Thanks you guys, what I think I'll do is place a thin sheet of fabric in between just to be safe from burning/deforming the bin. Hopefully that works.
Any ideas on how to help speed up growth?! Currently they are getting high quality cat food, water crystals, and on occassion bananas and oranges (they go crazy for fruit). Someone before mentioned they used creatine in the cat food (I know that's a no no). What about protein powder?
