Hello, My mom and her boyfriend are interested in getting a reptile for my brother, who is 11. He is just amazing at taking care of my bearded dragon (as long as I tell him Apollo is his too hahaha). Anyway, I showed them what a uromastyx looked like, and they are interested in getting one of those instead of a beardie because they are smaller but still able to hold him. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good care sheet and how close they were to having a beardie (if you are supposed to bathe them regularly, lighting, if you should also have tile for them etc). I found this website http://www.deerfernfarms.com/Uromastyx_Care.htm But I am not sure if it a good one or not. Any input at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

deer fern farms is a decent place to look at for a care sheet...u dont bathe them because they can get tail rot from having water in between the kinks in their tails basically you would set up their enclosure as you would a beardie but with very little humidity and temps well over 115 degrees more like 120+ and they strictly eat greens no bug or animal protein...since they require such extreme heat they cant be kept out as long as beardies and other reptiles...they eat the same greens as beardies and not all uromastyx are small...i think the smallest species gets 11-14 inches and thats the sarharan aka niger uromastyx

Thanks! That might be an idea then, I think my mom will like the idea of them not eating any bugs hahaha.
